Welcome to our Relief Society blog!

Hi everyone,

Welcome to our very own Relief Society blog! The purpose of this blog is to strengthen our relief society, our branch, and most importantly, our faith and testimony in Jesus Christ.

I just started this out of my own google account, and since I have another personal blog on this account, I wouldn't be offended if anyone wants to change it up and use a different site or account! Feel free to read my personal blog (most of it is spiritual anyway), and you may note that I've been itching to keep a blog going for a while now. Please share if anyone has ideas for upgrading or buttering up our blog! I'm not hugely advanced with technology, so don't be afraid to speak up.

In the mean time, why don't we introduce ourselves?

My name is Catherine Wynder (or some of you might say "Sister" Wynder), and I'm married to the handsome half-Asian gentleman in our branch, Larry Wynder. I was born and raised in Duluth, Georgia, and came to NYC to study at the Manhattan School of Music for viola performance. I went through the college thing six years, got my Master's in May 2013, and landed my first (real) job at the Woodmere Music Studios. Besides teaching, I free-lance. Some of you might have seen me playing in a subway platform somewhere. I play in string quartets for weddings and parties about once or twice a month. My career passion is truly with the string quartet, but my love for teaching has grown and I don't wish to ever stop teaching. I love the string quartet because it draws the feeling of family atmosphere stronger than any other job setting I've had, and I love families. The string quartet repertoire is also one of the most vast and heart-breaking-beautiful repertoires in classical music, in my opinion. If you haven't listened to any of the Beethoven String Quartets, type that into your YouTube RIGHT NOW and just DO IT.

That's a little bit about my testimony of classical music. As for my spiritual history, I was born and raised Roman Catholic, discerned becoming a nun from age 16-18, attended mass daily right up until the day I decided to join the LDS church (sometimes I still go to daily mass, why not?) and I got baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 4th of 2011. I won't go into detail right now, but the inspiration came from A LOT of sources. I mean, the Spirit was practically drowning me in this inspiration by the time I accepted the hint.

I think that's enough about me. Needless to say, I love to write. I devour books. I have enough books to look like an English major or something, and Larry complains every time I want more books for lack of space... it's the only thing I can do to not bore myself to death when having to spend two, three, sometimes maybe even five hours on the train daily. I'm always looking for more good books to read, so come and talk to me if you're into that kinda thing too!

Love,
-Catherine
